Ancient Egypt Autumn 2 2017/18

During the second half of the Autumn term, Year  5 learnt all about Ancient Egypt.  The children thoroughly enjoyed finding out about: Egyptian gods, the tomb of Tutankhamun and all about where Egypt is in the world.

Some of the work we completed:
The children have worked very hard.  Here are pictures of our classroom displays.  You will see the collage work of Tutankhmun's Mask.  These took a very long time to complete and children had to be very resilient!

Egyptian and Fairground DT.

We have completed two DT projects this half term.  We have made a hydraulic sarcophagus using water and syringes.   These allowed us to create a tomb for a mummy which raised up as if by magic!  Then we had a visit by Steph O'Donnell, from Primary DT, who helped us to make a moving carousel using electrical circuits.  This was very fiddly!  We then visited the ICT suite with Mrs Truelove and created lights to go with our design using a clever device called a crumble and a program called Scratch.  Here are some pictures of us in action!
