Daily activities in the event of a whole class closure

Wednesday 10th February - Pie Corbett writing a shape poem

Pie Corbett provides some hints and tips to help your class write a shape or observation poem. This video is taken from the Igniting Writing 'Waterworlds' in...

Dear Year 5SM and parents

Just to let you all know that I am so proud of you all.  Year 5 you have worked so hard this year and we think you are fab!  I know you have got this!  We can do anything because we try, are resilient and we will keep smiling through - for this reason we can't lose!

Do little bits and often.  If you feel frustrated with something or you feel you can't do it yet.  Take a break and come back to it.

I am going to be working on this section of the website today.  Friday is complete!  Keep calling back to check out different days as they will start appearing throughout the day.

Take care of yourselves, be kind to each others (Yes adults find this tricky as well so be kind to your grown ups!), try your best because it is enough and remember we are proud of you!

See you soon

Mrs Matthews and Mrs Cartledge

Mrs Matthews' Class - from 27th November 2020

Daily activities you could do:

1) READ - everything and anything - read books, read newspapers, read websites just keep reading.  It is a great way to escape and go on adventures even when you can't leave the house!  I've already started the Danger Gang that Mrs Cartledge has bought me.  It's great!

2)  Daily ten - link below.  Remember we have been working really hard on - multiplication (level 5) division (level 5) and of course rounding (level 4 and 5).  We have also been practising multiplying and dividing by 10, 100, 1000.  To do this ask someone in your house to come up with a list of numbers and then multiplying and dividing by 10, 100, 1000.  Check your answers on a calculator.

Here's the link:

3)  TT rock stars - I'm going to be setting up some battles for you all today.  Try and improve your rock status!  Who is going to reach rock hero first?

*As well as the work below, there are activities to complete on Education City.*

* If you are struggling with the level of the maths, I have added a star with links to maths games.*
