In the last few weeks we have been designing a circus character. We are going to be working towards children creating their own newspaper report about this character, including planning, writing and editing. This is likely to continue into next week. Here's some things to think about:
1) What has happened to the character that results in him/her being in a newspaper? Maybe it's the first time they have been somewhere, maybe they have broke a world record etc.
2) Use the planning grid in this weeks paper pack to help structure your writing.
3) Can you include fronted adverbial phrases and embedded relative clauses in your writing?
This week we are starting our Ancient Egypt topic. Research about the Nile and about Tutankahumun. There is some information in your paper pack about this.
Write a diary as if you are Howard Carter. Describe the day the tomb was entered.
This week is also Anti-Bullying week and Road safety week and we will be talking about this and you could create a poster to share these views.
This week we are starting to plan a newspaper article around our circus character. We will be looking at lots of language including relative clauses and fronted adverbial phrases. Also, we will be looking at the many structures of headlines. A lot of these activities are available in the paper packs provided by school. Here are a couple of clips to help you:
This week we are starting a topic which revolves around the circus.
This week we are writing a nonchronological report on an alien that you can design.
Each lesson link will take you to a video lesson. In each lesson you will need some scrap paper to do the activities introduced. Each lesson has a worksheet activity to do which is in your pack. Look for a sheet with the same heading.
