Weekly Spellings

I will not be setting anymore over the next 2 weeks as it should be our 2 week holiday. However, there are spelling activities that you can do on Education City and this website is also brilliant for practising and testing spellings if you want to do any!

Week beginning 18/5/20

This week I want us to look at words ending in -ary.

Here are the words I want you to practise!

library

February

dictionary

boundary

salary

summary

primary

secondary

ordinary

necessary

I have attached some activities to help you learn them!

This week I'd like you to look at some more of the words we need to learn to spell in Y3 and Y4. Below are some activity sheets where the Y3/Y4 word is spelt incorrectly. Can you write the correct spelling?

I've given you a word mat of the Y3/ Y4 words to help you. You could write the answers in your book.

If you finish these activities you could practise the spellings you found tricky by writing them in a pyramid style, in bubble writing or end to end using different colours.

You could also practise writing the words in joined handwriting, remember to make ascenders and descenders clear.

Monday 4th May

This week our activities focus on the spelling of adverbs. Do you remember last week we looked at using adverbs in our writing to give the reader more information. Adverbs can give more detail about when, where or how an event happened. This week we are going to look specifically at the spelling of adverbs. Have a look at the words below and see if you can write the spellings in your book. Take care with the spelling each word and remember any favourites that you have, they may come in handy tomorrow!

Please also practise writing each word in joined handwriting. Remember to make ascenders and descenders clear.

Tuesday 21st April

This week I thought it would be a good idea to revise homophones. They are words that sound the same but have different meanings. They also have different spellings. I've added some work below and you could write the answers in your book. If you're not sure what a word means you could use an online dictionary to help. The answers are included too.
