At Pinfold Primary School, we use 'Read Write Inc.' to teach the children how to read and write. We start by learning sounds and how to write them, before moving on to reading words by blending sounds together and writing words by segmenting the sounds in the words we want to write and writing them down.
Phonics Screening
The phonics screening will take place in June 2027. This involves reading both real and 'alien' words. Children are asked to read made up 'alien' words to test their knowledge of phonics and ability to blend sounds. You can support your child with their phonics screening by regularly looking at their green and yellow speed sounds books with them, as well as reading the phonetically decodable Read Write Inc. books in their book bag.
