At Pinfold Primary School we use 'Read, Write, Inc' to teach the children how to read and write using the sounds they have learned. We start by learning sounds and how to write the letters that make them correctly, before moving on to reading words by blending sounds together and writing words by segmenting the sounds in the words we want to write and writing them down. Our phonics lessons start by the Summer term in Nursery and throughout Reception. All children take an active part in a phonics lesson each day.
